ApplyingFor job seekers

Why can't I apply to an "Example" listing?

Example, sample, demo or placeholder listings and companies: why there is no Apply button, why you cannot send a message, and where to find real jobs.

Last updated

Listings with an Example badge are sample jobs. They show what a listing looks like but are not real openings, so they cannot take applications or messages.

How to spot an example

  • The job page shows a notice that starts "Example listing" near the title.
  • Where the apply form would be, it says "Example listing — not accepting applications".
  • Example companies show an Example company badge on their page, and their contact form is switched off.
  • Example listings are hidden from search engines and from the live board.

Where the real jobs are

  • The Live board shows only real, active openings.
  • The Jobs page and job alerts cover every real listing.
  • Company pages without the Example company badge belong to real employers.

If it still doesn't work

If a listing without the Example badge refuses your application, the job may have expired or closed. Check the status badge near the title. If it looks live and still won't accept applications, open a ticket from Help & support and include the link to the job.
